What Does the following ultrasound Scan Indicate?

I had been having a lot of stomach pain along with very bad bloating. I just had a ultrasound and the report reads "right ovarian has multiple follicular cyst. One measures 1.4 cm in diameter and contains low level internal echoes suggesting hemorrhage." Does this mean I'm internally bleeding? My doctor sent me out for this ultrasound so I won't be able to talk to her until the morning!

For the left ovarie the report reads " the left ovarie measures 6.0 x 5.6 x 5.1 cm and contains a 5.4 x 4.9 x 4.3 cm simple cyst." Will this need surgery?

Hello.
Thank you for contacting HCM.

I have gone through your question and first of all I would like to assure you that the findings are not pointing towards any internal hemorrhage nor they indicate any requirement for surgery.

First possibility is of hemorrhagic cyst in the left ovary....which is basically bleeding in the ovary due to erosion of any blood vessel. This presents with abdominal pain usually. It resolves by itself within 2-3 months and require follow up ultrasound after 3 months.
As there are multiple cysts seen in both the ovaries I would recommend you consult your local gynecologist to rule out Polycystic Ovaries through clinical evaluation and hormonal assays and get further treatment accordingly.

I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to contact HCM again if you have any concerns.
Wishing you good health.
